The Tribune Society, Inc., of the Courts of New York is a fraternal
organization of African Americans and other minority judicial and non-judicial
court personnel. Founded in 1968 by a group of peace officers, its chief
objectives are to consistently improve the administration of justice and to
ensure equal opportunity for all who work in or whom the New York Unified Court
System serves.
Where We Work
We work for the New York Court System
What We Stand For
We believe in the fair and impartial enforcement of the law for all people
in the community, regardless of race, color, creed or class. Therefore, we try
to impart to all court personnel, the importance of extending the same courtesy,
consideration and treatment to all who pass through the courthouse doors.
Our Goals
-
To make whatever contribution our titles allow to further
the implementation of justice in the courts.
-
To participate in and develop programs and activities that
will directly benefit our community.
-
To develop a format that will enable minorities in our
communities to better understand how the court systems works in relation to
their lives.
-
To champion the cause of Equal Employment Opportunity
hiring practices within the court.
-
To provide a forum wherein, fraternally, we can discuss
common problems and work toward their solution.
-
To encourage the highest degree of development and
achievement in our members.
Membership is open to all court employees, permanent or provisional
within the Unified Court System.
